NSC-040719: New Virus W32.Beagle.AG@mm

Today a new virus started spreading around the campus about 12:00 local time. This virus was not detected by our gateway antivirus until 4:00 this afternoon. This has resulted in a number of virus infected messages being delivered to users inboxes. Currently any new messages sent are being detected by the gateway antivirus and discarded. At this time Symantec has not yet released a LiveUpdate for our desktop antivirus but we expect that some time tonight. We request that users delete any of the messages that might have been received in their inboxes. The messages have the following format:

* Screen and Music

Attachment: (One of the following)

* Cool_MP3
* Dog

* New_MP3_Player


Attachment extension: (One of the following)
* .exe
* .scr
* .com
* .cpl
* .zip
