NSC-050812b: Veritas Backup Exec Port 10000 Block
An urgent issue came up with the university hospital that necessitated the
removal of the port 10000 block for some hospital IP Addresses (129.255.x.x
addresses). Please be advised that the temporary filter on port 10000 is
still in place for all 128.255.x.x (academic campus) addresses, but is no
longer covering the entire 129.255.x.x network. Contact UIHC Communication
Technology Services if you need information regarding which 129.255.x.x
addresses have port 10000 blocked.
We will evaluate the situation over the weekend, to see if the port 10000
block needs to be removed from the campus side before next Thursday. Please
use urgency to get host-based filtering in place for any system using the
Veritas Backup Exec software as soon as possible.
