Instructions for submitting your CSR (Certificate Signing Request)

Note: You must follow the instructions EXACTLY as described or the certificate cannot be approved locally, and the cost will not be subsidized by the UI Software Office.

One year new certificate, your cost = $65.00   One year renewal certificate, your cost = $50.00

1. Generate a new CSR file on your web server.  (Consult the documentation for your particular web server for help, as each one operates slightly different. Thawte also provides instructions.) 

In the CSR, you must supply the following pieces of information EXACTLY as shown, (including the same upper/lower case):

You will need to choose a password for the private key generated in this process.  Be sure to make a backup of your private key, and do not forget the password we do not keep records of them. *If you do loose your password, click the Lost Password link and fill out the information, a new password will be e-mailed to the relevant contact for that request. Duplicate CSR requests will be billed at 100% of cost.

You will be instructed to choose a file location to store the CSR.

2. Go to the Certificate Request Form and submit the following information:

3.  You will be notified by e-mail when the certificate request has been approved, and is ready to be issued.   Using the tracking code sent in the email to you from Thawte, you can download the certificate from their web site at  https://www.thawte.com/cgi/server/spki status.exe using the privacy password you supplied on the UI form. 

NOTE: You will be billed through the UI Software Office for 50% of the cost of the certificate (currently $65.00 for a new certificate, and $50.00 for a renewal of an existing certificate).
