Introduction:

University-wide, there is a growing complexity of IT resources, software, services and shared data. The operational interdependencies in technical infrastructure, projects and policies affect the entire campus.

The primary advisory structure for the operation of enterprise wide projects and shared services is the Enterprise IT Committee (EITC). The EITC represents both the technical depth available on the campus and the operating diversity of the colleges, university administrative units, and hospital. This group of persons is responsible for balancing the collegiate desire for political autonomy and technical freedom to implement local solutions, and the role of the central academic and hospital providers to implement standards and scalable solutions.

Policy Statement:

The EITC is responsible for oversight of the campus Active Directory forest. In addition to policy, Active Directory version upgrades and feature sets will be deployed at the direction of the EITC.

It is expected that the EITC will, in time, expand its advisory scope beyond the Active Directory issues to include networking, enterprise servers, and other shared infrastructure.

Members must be enterprise thinkers, committed to the deployment of improved operational technologies.

The University Chief Information Officer (CIO) and Director of Health Care Information Systems (HCIS) will select membership: 2 representatives each from ITS, HCIS; 3 collegiate representatives; 2 from other units. The initial core membership of 7-10 will be selected from the Active Directory Planning Project Steering Committee plus representative individuals from other areas.

Member terms are two years in length, expiring in June, on an alternating year basis. Members may be reappointed for a second consecutive term.
